There is also a bank, post office, doctors surgery and a dentist.

The house is situated on the edge of the village with woodland. It is around 500 metres from the Dronne which is suitable for walking, fishing and swimming during the summer. Kayaks and canoes are also available to hire here. All the above is within walking distance of the house.

In the area

There are plenty of things to see and visit nearby including Aubeterre, Bergerac, Perigeux, St Emilion the heart of the Bordeaux wine region, Cognac and the Venice of Perigord, Brantôme all of which are within easy driving distance.

The house is well placed for visiting the many colourful morning markets which are characteristic of this area. These markets display a wonderful choice of local foods and can be found at Chalais, Coutras, Montguyon, Montpon, Montendre, Riberac, St Seurin to name but a few.

A wonderful choice of swimming lakes and river beaches to visit in the summer months include BeauVallon at Montguyon, Brossac, La Jemaye, Le Paradou, St Christophe and St Eulaye. It is always pleasant to relax down by the river in La Roche Chalais too.

By Air
La Roche Chalais is 50 minutes drive from Bordeaux airport or 75 minutes from Bergerac airport.
By Car
From Calais, it takes 9 hours to drive, going via mostly A-roads.
From Le Havre, it takes 7.5 hours to drive, again going mostly via A-roads which are easy to drive on.
By Train
It takes 3 hours 9 minutes From Paris to Libourne. Libourne is about 25 minutes away.
